Adding with Regrouping
- Add ones first.
- When ones total 10 or more, exchange 10 ones for 1 ten.
- Then add all the tens, including the new ten.
Subtracting by Breaking a Ten
- Subtract ones first.
- If there are not enough ones, exchange 1 ten for 10 ones.
- Check subtraction by adding the difference and the amount taken away.
