Measurement & Unit Conversion

Every real-world quantity carries a unit. Convert by multiplying by carefully chosen forms of 1 so unwanted units cancel.

Units as part of the answer

Every real-world quantity carries a unit. Convert by multiplying by carefully chosen forms of 1 so unwanted units cancel.

  • Dimensional analysis: write units in the calculation, not only at the end.
  • Temperature is affine (not a simple scale through zero): °C ↔ °F needs offset.
  • Currency conversion is just multiplication by an exchange rate.
If units do not cancel to what you wanted, the setup is wrong — fix before computing.
