Confidence Intervals

A 95% CI is a method that, in repeated sampling, covers the true parameter about 95% of the time. One realised interval either covers or does not — the confidence is in the procedure.

  • Wider confidence level → wider interval.
  • Larger n → narrower interval.
  • Do not say "95% probability the parameter is in this interval" in the frequentist interpretation.
