What is Figma?
Figma is a browser-based design tool for UI, UX, and collaborative product design. You draw screens, build reusable components, and hand designs to developers — all in one file that lives in the cloud.
Unlike older desktop-only tools, Figma works in Chrome (or the desktop app) and lets many people edit the same file at once. Startups, agencies, and big product teams use it as their default design workspace.
Real-life example: Figma is like a shared Google Doc for design. Everyone sees the same canvas, comments stay on the right place, and you never email a huge .psd back and forth.
02What this Rishtaara course covers
- Interface, frames, layers, and file hygiene
- Shapes, typography, color, and Auto Layout
- Components, variants, styles, and libraries
- Prototyping, collaboration, and developer handoff
- A mini project: mobile app screen + landing hero
03Figma vs other design tools
- Figma — browser + desktop, real-time collab, strong for UI/product.
- Sketch — Mac-only; many teams migrated to Figma for collaboration.
- Adobe XD — similar UI focus; Figma won most team workflows.
- Photoshop / Illustrator — great for photos and illustration; weaker for multi-screen product UI and handoff.
