Digital Analytics Complete Learning Roadmap (Flow-Wise)
A complete flow-wise path: GA4 foundations → campaign measurement → attribution & reporting — mapped to Rishtaara courses and companion checklists.
Digital analytics is a sequence, not a pile of tools. This roadmap is the flow-wise path we use on Rishtaara: foundations → campaign measurement → attribution and reporting — matched to our Digital Marketing courses and companion guides.
02Stage 1 — Foundations (Week 1–2)
Goal: a live GA4 property you trust, with core metrics and standard reports you can explain in plain English.
- Create account → property → web data stream
- Install via gtag or Google Tag Manager
- Verify with Realtime and DebugView
- Learn users, sessions, engagement, events
- Turn on Enhanced measurement with intention — know what you enabled
03Stage 2 — Campaign Measurement (Week 3–4)
Goal: every important campaign can be attributed in GA4 with consistent UTMs and at least one primary key event.
- Write a UTM dictionary (source, medium, campaign, content)
- Mark key events only after DebugView proves clean fires
- Learn GTM tags, triggers, variables, and Preview → Submit
- Map one funnel on paper before building explorations
- Adopt a Monday–Friday reporting cadence
04Stage 3 — Attribution & Reporting (Week 5–6)
Goal: explain multi-touch journeys, build one funnel exploration, ship a Looker Studio page stakeholders actually open, and run a CRO loop.
- Understand why Ads, Meta, and GA4 numbers disagree
- Build Funnel / Path / Free form explorations
- Publish a one-page executive dashboard
- Segment new vs returning, paid vs organic, mobile vs desktop
- Run hypothesis → change → measure → document

- Define and mark primary key events

- Produce a weekly decision report (not a data dump)
- Build one funnel exploration and one stakeholder dashboard
07Final Thoughts

Key takeaways
- Learn analytics in three stages: foundations → measurement → attribution/reporting.
- Verify tracking before optimizing spend.
- Pair each course stage with a weekly operating loop.
- Use companion checklists for events, GTM, reporting, dashboards, and attribution.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the full path take?+
About six weeks part-time if you practice on a real site or client property. Faster if you already have GA4 installed cleanly.
Do I need coding?+
Not for foundations. GTM reduces code edits. Custom dataLayer pushes may need a developer — marketers should still specify the tracking plan.
GA4 or Mixpanel / Amplitude first?+
Most marketing teams start with GA4 plus ad platforms. Product analytics tools come later when product usage depth matters more than acquisition.
Where do the free courses live?+
Under Learn → Digital Marketing: digital-analytics-fundamentals, then campaign-measurement-analytics, then attribution-reporting-advanced.
