Understanding Gold Rates in Tokyo
Why do rates differ from jewellers?
Jewellery prices include making charges, consumption tax where applicable, and brand premiums. Our rates reflect indicative metal value based on international spot gold.
What is 22 Karat gold?
22K gold is 91.6% pure. 24K is 99.9% pure (coins/bars). Many international markets also emphasise 18K and 14K for jewellery.
How are Tokyo rates calculated?
We combine COMEX gold (USD/oz) with the USD/JPY exchange rate, convert to per-gram, apply karat purity, a Japan retail premium, and a small local city adjustment.
How often are rates updated?
Rates refresh about every 30 minutes. Historical data uses daily COMEX closes and reference forex rates.
